The principle objective of the Society is to strengthen the process of evolution of scientific knowledge in Development Economics by providing a forum for exchange of ideas between the Institute and development economists outside the Institute.

 

To achieve this object the Society
•    Facilitate research in Development Economics
•    Organize seminars, conferences and symposia
•    Collaborate with other national and international organizations
•    Confer awards on scholars for outstanding contribution in the general areas of Development Economics
